Our Mission
I’ve always been in love with nature. Fabrics made from natural fibers like cotton, linen, and wool are beautiful and long lasting. Nowadays, plastic and polyester are everywhere, making it hard for quilters to find quality materials. So what did I do? I made the store I wished I had.
I founded Fat Stitch to give you 100% natural fabrics and non-toxic machine quilting services. Here I obsessively curate colors, textures, and patterns to save you time hunting for those gorgeous styles to quilt with. Plus, I curate a selection of notions where new or seasoned quilters can easily discover their tools. For a casual project or an heirloom gift, my goal is provide you with the supplies to create something worth keeping.

About
Alana
I’m a California girl, now with three kids who are all grown up! Fat Stitch is a family business, with my eldest daughter, my son, and I working together to bring more beauty into the world. We are inspired by the redwood trees of Marin and the sound of ocean waves crashing on the cliffside.
Exploring nature with my kids has always made me happy. North California gets cold at night in the summer, and during the winter snow falls in many places. My favorite memories are from camping with my kids, sitting by the fire roasting marshmallows, and wrapping each one of them up in a cozy blanket. Being a mom of three kids is hard work, but you can always count on mom to keep you warm.
"I hope to provide a space for quilters to create everlasting moments of joy."
To welcome my children into this world, I swaddled them up in soft cotton. Having children is what first introduced me to the importance of choosing the right fabrics for both our comfort and well being.
As I became the woman I am today, I completely fell in love with quilting and the wonderful people in our community. With my sewing machine, I feel inspired to explore my creative nature. Plus, quilting is an intellectual and therapeutic practice in mindfulness! I enjoy filling my home with comforts and beauty and giving projects to friends and family even more.
This year I greeted my nephew with a quilt I made of soft flannel and custom free-motion quilting designs. I felt so full of love and gratitude when I saw him crawling on the quilt happy.
Now that my kids are all grown up, they share my passion for quality fabrics. When we’re together we’re always chatting about the natural feel of linen, or how wool is moisture wicking and antimicrobial! Then my kids would laugh and tell me, look at your influence on us!
I have too many cherished memories from taking care of them all, wrapping them up, and keeping them safe.
So I founded Fat Stitch as a family business, from the desire to connect with my kids, my home of California, and my fellow quilters, who love the beauty of fabric too. I hope to provide a space for quilters to create everlasting moments of joy.
About
Amani
With my two younger siblings I’m famous for saying, “I may be the shortest, but I’m still the eldest!” Because, they grew up so tall and quickly outpaced me! We have so many great memories together and I can’t wait for more. We love to get cozy and play board games, cuddle with our pets, and go on adventures.
When I moved into my first home with my partner, I took special care to choose quality fabrics to fill our space. We love to wrap ourselves up in blankets whenever we watch the Great British Baking Show. My dog, named Mr. Darcy, gets his own blanket too! Thanks mom for your inspiration.
With our passion for beauty, comfort, and bedding, it only made sense for mom and I to create Fat Stitch together as a family, and I couldn’t be more excited to see our dream store come to life.
About
Rian
I live with my fianceé, Diana, and our two cats! Yes, I may be the youngest but I’m actually the tallest. I remember when I was twelve years old, finally, Amani could no longer win in wrestling matches.
Our family always knows how to have fun together, and our business is the same.
